Airfare

Airfare is coordinated by the registration team for you and your guest. During registration, you will be asked for you and your guests preferred travel information as well as legal names, dates of birth, and frequent flier numbers. The registration team will email you an itinerary to approve. Once approved, e-tickets will be issued and sent via email. We will do our best to accommodate any airline preference; however, the option presented will be the best fare available. You will have the option to pay the difference in cost, from best fare, if you choose. Any non-program related changes to your approved flights and any deviation from the best fare on programs dates are at your own expense.

Transportation

Round-trip airport transportation to the Fairmont Orchid is provided on main program dates only. If you are extending your stay before or after main program dates, transportation is on your own to arrange and at your own cost. Please contact the Registration Team if you have any questions regarding pre/post event transportation recommendations and logistics.

Time Zone

Hawaii follows Hawaii Standard Time, which is 5 hours behind Eastern Standard Time and 2 hours behind Pacific Standard Time from November to March. Hawaii does not observe Daylight Savings Time.

Travel Documents

U.S. citizens will need the same documents that are used for travel within the continental US - driver's license or another form of government-issued ID.

All non-U.S. citizens are required to present valid passports.  The passport should be valid at least three months beyond the period of stay. Please check with your respective Embassy to see if you need a special visa. For more information on U.S. Visitor Visas, please click here.

Packing Tips and Weather

Do not pack any valuable items in luggage you plan to check. Your photo ID, travel documents, tickets, cash, jewelry, medications, etc. should always be kept with you in a carry-on bag.  Please do not pack any nail files, pocketknives, other sharp objects or large liquids in your carry-on bags.  The hotel rooms include a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and in-room safe.  Cots and compact cribs may be available in selected guest rooms.

General attire for the program is resort casual, (i.e., comfortable clothing and walking shoes, shorts, sundresses, etc.), and recommended attire for the specific organized activities are outlined on their respective pages on this website. Attire for the evening events is as follows:

Welcome Reception – Resort Dressy: Collared Shirts (Aloha Shirts), Long Pants, Dresses, Skirts & Tops
Farewell Dinner – Resort Casual: Collared Shirts (Aloha Shirts), Long Pants, Dresses, Skirts & Tops

The average temperature in the Kohala Coast region in February is a high of 78ºF and a low of 63ºF.  While there are no guarantees regarding rain, rain is less likely on Big Island’s leeward (western) coast, away from the trade winds.  Overall, expect remarkably mild and pleasant weather year-round.  Click here for the current Hawaii weather.

Children

Children are welcome to attend Founder’s Club, but the attendee is responsible for all expenses – including airfare, hotel, meals, activities, transportation, hotel porterage and gratuities. Children may join you at the Welcome Reception and the Beach Day.  Please arrange for child care during the Hosted Activity and the Farewell Luau.  The Fairmont Orchid offers the Keiki Aloha Adventure Children’s Program for children between the ages of 5 and 12.  Children will take part in daily activities focused on fun and learning on the Big Island.  Full-day (9am-4pm) and Half-day (9am-12pm) child care options are available.  Reservations are encouraged.  For children under the age of 5, or children not interested in the Keiki Aloha Adventure Program, the Fairmont Orchid recommends Malihini Keiki Care for babysitting and nanny service.  Please click here to see rates and policies.  Please reference the Founder’s Club program agenda to ensure you have made the proper arrangements.
