Gaudi Masterpieces
Barcelona’s masterpiece and most recognizable edifice is without a doubt Antoní Gaudí’s La Sagrada Familia. La Sagrada Familia, a modernist church, is one of Gaudi's most famous works in the city. It is a truly unique building and an absolute must-see for anyone visiting Barcelona. Gaudí designed the Park Güell in 1900 for an entrepreneur named Eusebi Güell who wanted to create a residential district with about 60 homes where the residents would adopt a revolutionary way of living in this “ideal town”. Sadly, the concept was ahead of its time and failed, however the city acquired Park Güell in 1922 and turned it into a public park. The park is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Barcelona, known for Gaudí's ceramic mosaics that decorate the winding bank and his beloved lizard.
